The Microsoft Windows Runtime (also known as WinRT) is a runtime environment developed by Microsoft to create applications for various platforms such as desktop computers, tablets, mobile phones and Xbox. WinRT is part of the Windows operating system and provides an API (Application Programming Interface) that allows developers to create applications using a variety of languages and frameworks such as C++, C#, Visual Basic, JavaScript and HTML5. In terms of web development, WinRT enables the creation of web applications and the integration of these applications into the Windows operating system. This is achieved by using web technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Developers can use WinRT to access various APIs such as file system access, network access, camera and sensor access and more to create powerful web applications that are able to access system resources and seamlessly integrate the operating system.
